UNDER WATER

Chained by invisible hands
Holding my breath 
Closing my eyes 
Counting to ten 
The surface disappears 
Control evaporates 
Left with only fear
Trusting in faith 

Under water 
I learned to see
All the strength I keep 
Inside of me
I survived when
I couldn’t breathe 
My power broke the chains 
Now I’m free

Knocked down by the waves
In the deepest ocean 
With time to reflect 
And process emotion

I reach the top and feel the air 
The water wash away my fear
A new profound sense of care
The force within shows I’m here
